When to Visit?
The favorable season to go for trekking in Bhutan is in spring (Late
March, April and May) and autumn (Late September, October &
November). Having said so, summer and winter have their own draws and
attractions.
Spring takes place in March to May and for those nature lover who are
interested on local flora should consider visiting during this place.
Spring comes autumn and it’s a perfect time to visit during this time.
Usually the most popular times to visit with generally clear, mild
weather, excellent scenery, lower rainfall and a range of festivals
called Tshechus and Dromchoes. They are however the busiest months for
tourist visitors and you can expect some congestion at major tourist
sights.
If you like to avoid the higher tariff and the cold of winter, consider
visiting Bhutan early-mid summer period June to July. During this time
you may still experience heavy rain during afternoons, however to see
Bhutan so green and full of clear streams and waterfalls is worth it.
Summer often offers vibrant green foresting and flourishing paddy fields
against a backdrop of the clear blue sky after the rain. While you may
not experience grand Himalayan vistas at this time, you will enjoy the
warmer weather and a noticeable reduction in tourist numbers. It is a
best time to visit!
Winter (December, January & February) is sunny, cool and agreeable
to say the least. Much of the east-west highway remains snowbound
during winter. It is the best time to tour the western districts of
Paro, Wangdue, Punakha, Thimphu and Haa. A great time for photography
(Black_Necked Cranes) and valley hiking plus the opportunity for
wonderful Himalayan vistas form the higher passes.
